  There are many ways you can make your computer run faster. Here are some of the basic tips that you can use.


1. Remove Unwanted Programs - If you've installed many programs that you haven't used in a long time, you should uninstall them. Programs not being used just use up Hard Disk Space and may run automatically on startup, making your computer run slower. Look through your computer and find the programs you do not need.

2. Delete Malicious Programs - You may have downloaded a virus by accident when downloading a file. These viruses not only slow down your computer but often can have many other effects. That is why it is important that you use up-to-date Anti-Virus Software. There are Free and Paid Anti-Virus Software, it depends on if you want to spend money on keeping your computer safe. One of the best Free alternatives is AVG Free.

3. Delete Junk - This means deleting temporary files as well as other files that aren't programs. Whenever you go onto a website, the files (Such as the images) are temporarily downloaded

Password Strength: The Need for Adequate Password Standards in the Workplace

  Most computer users are aware of the need for passwords to protect sensitive data from unauthorised access, but few are aware of how easily some passwords can be cracked by malicious users. In the corporate environment, where the protection of sensitive data is particularly vital, it is important to introduce password standards to ensure that you are not leaving your firm open to a security breach.


The term 'password' refers to a string of characters, known only to user, which is used to authenticate their identity and give them access to an electronic resource such an email account. Computer hackers will typically work through a list of more likely passwords first, before moving on to a 'brute force' cracking method, which simply involves systematically trying every possible combination until they are successful. For this reason, password strength is dependent on three factors: length, complexity and predictability.

Most experts recommend a minimum password length of eight characters, but fourteen characters or longer is ideal. It is also good practice to prohibit the use of words found in dictionaries as this gives hackers a
